I was able to test the speed a bit these past two races, competing in the Los Gatos One Mile Bang and 6 days later racing a 1500m at the Jim Bush Meet. Having competed in the Bang Mile for the previous two years, I was fairly familiar with the course and knew that I wanted to wait late to make a move. The pace was honest, covering the first 400m in just about 60 secs, before slowing a bit over the next 800m. With a little over 400m remaining in the race, I noticed there was still a pack of about 7 runners, so I figured it was time to make a move to break up the field. I took over the lead with about 300m remaining and could hear somebody behind me was closing hard. It happened to be new Aggie George Espino, and he ended up passing me right at the finish.

Coming off of the Bang Mile, I figured I would be a bit more patient racing the 1500m at Jim Bush. With a field of 8 competitors, nobody wanted to take the lead from the beginning, and we came through the first 800m at 2:10. At this point I decided to spread the fill a bit, and pushed the pace on the 3rd lap. With 300m to go, I was sitting back and 3rd place and wanted to have a good close into the finish. With a hard final 150m, I moved into second place and was just .07 from taking the win. Overall, it was a solid two races and allowed me to be sharp going into the last month of the season.
