The City to Sea Half Marathon has always been something I've wanted to do and I was super excited for the opportunity. It was a lot of fun racing with my teammates.
The race set up honestly with Sergio Reyes taking us through 4 miles at 19:51 and remained unrelenting until about the 10 mile mark. At this point, I took the lead and started running as fast as I could--kind of like I was being chased by a Velociraptor through the streets of Shell Beach to the race finish at Dinosaur Caves Park. I thought I was going to get caught. Sergio is clever. We MUST go faster. But I was able to hang on for the win.
All joking aside, it was a great event and I was happy to see my wife, teammates, friends, coach, and even some of my Arroyo Grande High School track/XC squad volunteers cheering along the way.
