Reyes runner-up for Aggies Men

Thousands of runners flocked to downtown San Luis Obispo at dawn Sunday for the 22nd annual running of the City to the Sea Half Marathon, a 13.1-mile race that winds its way to its eventual finish in Pismo Beach.

San Luis Obispo’s Phillip Reid crossed the finish line first, traversing the scenic course in 1 hour, 9 minutes, 16 seconds, besting second-place finisher Sergio Reyes of Palmdale, the SLO Marathon men’s champion this summer, by 20 seconds. Mark Huizar rounded out the top three in the men’s division with a time of 1:10.10.

Kara Thorne of Grover Beach, 2014 SLO Half Marathon champion, won the women’s half with a time of 1:21.49, finishing ahead of Davis’ Kelsey Lakowske (1:25.11), this year’s women’s SLO Marathon champion, and Lindsay Bruinsma of San Francisco (1:29.28).
