| Some Wharf to Wharf action and a Boston Marathon berth - Monday, July 26, 2010 We had several Aggies run the Wharf to Wharf over the weekend and of course the Open Men, led by Keith Hankins, were way, way up there with the top finishers. Also part of the group were Jeff Lease, Jeff Gardina and Mario Mendoza. Sorry if I missed anyone!
On the female side of Wharf to Wharf, Lindsay Gardina put forth another outstanding race, finishing in the top 10. Way to go, Lindsay! Here's the list for the Top 100 men and women.
And in San Francisco news, our own Tricia Frisella ran her first marathon there over the weekend and will be running Boston in 2011. Congratulations, Trish! You will love Boston!

| Summer Races - Sunday, July 25, 2010 Got good news from a couple Aggies Masters about their recent races.
Rosemarie Lagunas won the 41st Brian Waterbury Memorial Rock to Pier Run last week, separating herself from the 2nd place woman by about 2-1/2 minutes. Nice work, Rosemarie!
And Keith "Stoneman" Stone, who had been running about 6 miles a week all summer, brought home some hardware in the 5K he ran last week. Way to do it, Stoneman!
Keep up the great summer running and racing, Aggies! |
| US Masters Track and Field Championship News - Sunday, July 25, 2010More great Masters Track news from Aggie, Terry Parks, on the USATF Masters Champs --
Jaime Heilpern ran 1:58.56 for 2nd in the M40-44 800 Meters, and Terry ran 2:06.03 for 4th in the M45-49 800 Meters. Great Asics Aggies representation, speedy Masters!
Thanks for the update, Terry. |
| Aggies perform in the Napa-to-Sonoma Half - Sunday, July 18, 2010 I got word from field correspondent, Kota Reichert, that several Asics Aggies made a strong showing at the Napa-to-Sonoma Wine Country Half Marathon today.
Aggies Open Men took 5 spots in the top 10 overall --
Sergio Reyes, 5th, 1:08:26.
Kota, 6th, 1:09:20.
Jeff Gardina, 8th, 1:10:31.
Carlos Siqueiros, 9th, 1:13:21.
Jeff Lease, 10th, 1:13:40.
And the lone Aggie woman, Lindsay Gardina, took 2nd in 1:23:13.
Most excellent work, Aggies! |

| Another Aggie Wins! - Tuesday, July 06, 2010 Kota Reichert ran a great race over the 4th of July weekend, taking the top finisher's spot. Way to go, Kota! Here's a quick recap he gave:
"Won the Alameda RACE 5k in 15:27. According to the motorcycle cop riding alongside me, I maintained a consistent 12 mph until the final straight-away where I was at 14 mph when he peeled off."
Nicely done!

| Farewell, Tara C! - Friday, July 02, 2010Best wishes to Aggie, Tara Carter, on her family's move to Colorado from San Francisco. Although we'll miss her at Cross Country this fall, she'll be running Clarksburg and the CIM. See you then, T! |
| USA Outdoor Track and Field Championship Updates - Friday, June 25, 2010 Cheers for Asics Aggies Sergio Reyes, Crosby Freeman, and Kim Conley who all competed in the 10,000 meter final on Thursday, June 24. Sergio ran 29:50.76, Crosby ran 30:19.32 and Kim was the lone female Aggie for the women's 10,000 finishing in 34:16.91. Then Lauren Weaver competed well in the Womens 5000m race on Friday night. Results are up on the USATF website. Great job ladies and gentlemen!
And former Aggie, Kara June, advanced to the final for the 3,000 meter women's steeple. Good luck, Kara! We miss you! |
| Lake Tahoe Relays & Downtown San Rafael Mile Results - Monday, June 14, 2010 Got an update from some of the Aggies who ran the Lake Tahoe Relays over the weekend:
"Old" Aggies took 6th in 7:55:21 followed by a mixed team of some Aggies and friends in 7th with 7:56:21. The "old" Aggies have still got it!!!
And the weekend prior, Aggies had a good showing at the Downtown San Rafael Mile. A few of the Aggies who raced were Angela Mercado, Jeff Hongo, Doug Steedman, and Jeff Lease. Sorry if I missed everyone! Full results are now posted. Good job, Aggies!
Enjoy the summer and see everybody at Cross Country!

| May & June happenings - Wednesday, June 02, 2010 Great job at the Marin 10K, Aggies! Team results are still pending, but full results are here. Will post team results when they're available. One more road race before summer: Downtown San Rafael Mile on June 6. Who's racing? Please let your captains know.
A big congratulations to Austin Grove who graduated high school last week. We are proud of you! Good luck at Orange Coast College... we know you'll be a valuable addition to their great rowing team. Robert and Liz, with both "boys" in college how old do you feel? ;-) |
| Another Aggie Victory - Tuesday, May 25, 2010 Earlier this month, Aggie Tim Koepsell, ran Reno's Rock-n-River 10K and won. Here's his quick recap:
"Finished in 32:54 in first place - reppin' the Aggie jersey! That race hurt - badly! I battled the second place finisher the whole way. No more than three feet separated us the first five miles. At the start of the last mile he had about four feet on me, but I realized I needed to quit racing like a sissy so I went by with a quick move and pushed until the end. But like I said, it hurt a lot!"
Way to get it done, Tim! |
| Asics Aggies Club Records Updated - Tuesday, May 11, 2010 Thanks to Ed Klotz for updating all the Aggies records through 5/9/2010. The updated records can be found under the "Club Records" link. |
| More Results... - Saturday, May 08, 2010 The Asics Aggies Open and Masters Men dominated the Big Sur 5K a couple of weeks ago.
The Open Men's team was made up of 2 young guys, 1 young-but-old guy, and 2 masters: Sergio Reyes, Martin Hernandez, Kevin Piepoint, Robert Grove and Jim Hartig. That combination resulted in 1st Place.
The Master's Men also got the top spot thanks to the fast legs of Chris Schille, Jeff Hongo, Fletcher Lesley, Doug Steedman and Jose Aispuro.
And the Open Women's team made up of 3 Masters and 2 young ones came through with a strong 2nd place finish, thanks to Linda Somers Smith, Jenn DeRego, Tara Carter, Jennifer Rubio and Glorybelle Lillie.
And in more recent racing... Kim Conley ran the Santa Rosa Elite Mile last night and won with 4:49. Great job, Kim! |
| Joe Rubio's blog about the Payton Jordan Invitational - Saturday, May 08, 2010 For the past 10+ years, my wife and I have attended the Payton Jordan Invitational at Stanford University the first weekend in May. Over the years we have witnessed some outstanding performances. Race such as Meb and Deena setting American Records in the 10k and Shalane Flanagan setting the AR in the women’s 5,000. Additional highlights include Bob Kennedy’s 27:36 and Alan Webb’s 10k debut win, this on top of the great 1500’s, steeples and 5,000 that happen every year. Even though this meet has some excellent distance events, the highlight of the evening are usually the 10,000’s.

In the 5000m, Lauren Weaver ran sub-16:00 with a 15:58.38. Finally, new Aggie Jacob Petralia ran a 3:47.64 in the 1500m. GREAT job to all of you! Congratulations!
And up in Eugene, Lindsay Nelson set a new PR in the marathon with a 2:48 and a top 3 finish. Solid!
